GOOD PRACTICES AND LATEST EVIDENCE

The transfer of the latest evidence to the practice of collective adoption into the practice of medicine is one of the great health challenges of the 21st century.

The dissemination of capabilities and the instruction based on scientific evidence, on advanced educational and professional competences are requirements, necessary and a decisive condition to develop competences as a way to reach a high level of proficiency by the students. Advanced Course in Traumatology in Sports – Good Practices and Latest Evidences is developed with the support of Clínica Espregueira – FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence, official teaching centre ISAKOS, ESSKA and ICRS, with the participation of a selection of doctors/lecturers whose academic, research and professional path guarantee their wisdom to be transmitted and assimilated.

The contents of the Advanced Course in Traumatology in Sports – Good Practices and Latest Evidences will be allocated by joint, anatomical structure and/or traumatic condition. In each module, essential topics such as clinical biomechanics, clinical assessment/physical examination, additional diagnostic tests and treatment options under the guidance of evidence-based medicine will be systematically and objectively discussed. The traumatological profile of sports such as football, futsal, handball and swimming will be addressed, seeking to discuss the most frequent and/or more serious injuries.

We aim to develop good practices in traumatology in sport, contribute to safety and superior performance in the provision of health services and promote optional clinical practices aligned with the theoretical education program.

OBJECTIVES

  Know the most frequent and/or serious injuries in different sports;
  Develop knowledge and skills in performing a clinical assessment/physical examination;
  Identify the advantages and adapt the prescription of complementary diagnostic exams in the context of sports traumatology according to established diagnostic hypotheses;
  Increase verbal and visual literacy about the image and develop critical capacity to interpret findings in the clinical context;
  Identify and discuss treatment options/care plans for the different injuries supported by good practices and the latest evidence.

Classes are live but you can watch them for a deferred period whenever and however you want! You will have access to the recordings up to 31 days after the last class of the course.

The final classification in the course will result from the quantitative classification obtained by the final exam. The assessment comprises the answers to a 25-question multiple-choice exam. Each correct answer contributes 0,8 points to the final classification. The exam will be held at the end of the course.
The final evaluation of each course is expressed through a classification on a numerical scale from 0 to 20 points, with approval being considered as obtaining a minimum of 10 points.
The final classification of the course can be accompanied by a qualitative mention, expressed on the following scale: Sufficient (10 to 13), Good (14 and 15), Very Good (16 and 17) and Excellent (18 to 20).
According to the Portuguese legislation (DL 42/2005 of 22 February), grades below 10, on a scale from 0 to 20, imply failure.
At the end of the course, an evaluation instrument will be applied to measure the participants’ satisfaction with the training process and the conditions for carrying out the course, aiming at possible improvement actions.
At the end of the course, a Professional Training Certificate will be issued, in accordance with current legislation (Ordinance No. 474/2010 of 8 July), to all participants who successfully complete the vocational training. This certificate, as well as a diploma, will be made available in digital format in the participant’s area, on the EMSaúde website, within a maximum period of 30 working days, after the end date of the course. If the student does not succeed, a Certificate of Attendance in Vocational Training will be issued.
