{"id":32597,"date":"2019-10-04T11:53:05","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T10:53:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.academiaclinicadragao.com\/uncategorized\/colagenio-o-papel-na-recuperacao-das-lesoes-desportivas\/"},"modified":"2019-10-04T11:53:05","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T10:53:05","slug":"colagenio-o-papel-na-recuperacao-das-lesoes-desportivas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.academiaclinicadragao.com\/en\/nutricao\/colagenio-o-papel-na-recuperacao-das-lesoes-desportivas\/","title":{"rendered":"Collagen - The role in the recovery from sports injuries"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>COLLAGEN<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Collagen is the most abundant <a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Col%C3%A1geno\">protein<\/a> in the body, being responsible for the elasticity and firmness of tendons, ligaments, connective tissues, and constituting one of the predominant compounds of the extracellular matrix of skeletal muscle<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5950747\/\">1<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19706001\">2<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SENSITIVITY TO MECHANICAL LOAD<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-wp-editing=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12114 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.academiaclinicadragao.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1bkv_collagen_02-1.png\" alt=\"Calagen synthesis\" width=\"188\" height=\"131\" \/>Collagen appears to be highly sensitive to mechanical loading from sports that involve frequent acceleration and deceleration or are characterized by constant moments of impact<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/21949456\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a>which in turn can translate into structural damage to the muscle fibers and the surrounding extracellular matrix<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/30783776\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In this sense, a study of <em>Clark et al. <\/em>(2008) demonstrated that the ingestion of 10 g of collagen, in a single dose, resulted in an increase in its synthesis at the level of the cartilage tissue of the knee, in athletes with a history of pain or discomfort at the knee level due to mechanical stress, injury or in the postoperative period<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/18416885\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a>while administration of 5 g collagen significantly improved perceived functionality in subjects with chronic ankle instability<sup>1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>RANGE OF MOTION<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_12115\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12115\" class=\"wp-image-12115\" src=\"https:\/\/www.academiaclinicadragao.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Collagen-synthesis-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Mechanism of collagen synthesis\" width=\"260\" height=\"195\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12115\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Collagen-synthesis.jpg - Wikimedia Commons<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Similarly, in a recent study by Shaw et al. (2017), ingestion of 5 and 15 grams of hydrolyzed collagen increased the amino-terminal propeptide concentration of type I collagen by 59 and 153%, respectively, in subjects undergoing an intermittent exercise program <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27852613\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a>.
