The practice of physical exercise is an essential element in people's health, well-being and quality of life, a fact widely recognized by science and by the main national and international programs for promoting physical activity. The Pilates Method has become a transversal modality for different age groups and clinical and sporting contexts, taking on a growing role in rehabilitation and optimizing movement and performance.

Following the training in Pilates Classical Matwork, The progression to working on equipment is relevant, namely Reformer and Cadillac, This clinical and practical integration requires additional knowledge about safety, equipment configuration, technical progression and individualized monitoring of practitioners.

Although the legal framework assigns the prescription of physical activity to professionals in Sports Science, Physical Education, Physical Exercise and related areas, the traditional content of these courses does not cover in depth the fundamentals and practical application of Pilates on equipment. It is therefore important to ensure that qualified professionals acquire adequate extracurricular training, based on scientific evidence and guided by trainers with high technical and pedagogical competence.

Participation in this course requires, as a formal requirement, prior completion of Levels 1 and 2 of Pilates Classical Matwork, ensuring that trainees have mastered the technical fundamentals of the method and are able to progress safely to practice in Reformer and Cadillac.

This training is aimed at professionals who want to consolidate the knowledge they have previously acquired in Pilates Matwork, evolving to the safe, progressive and effective use of the equipment. The training is based on the following pillars:

  • High level of technical competence and experience of the trainers;

  • Training in a studio equipped with Reformer and Cadillac;

  • Supervised practice with a small number of trainees;

  • Appropriate teaching materials, consistent with the objectives and learning outcomes.

The aim of this technical development is for physical education and sports science professionals, exercise technicians and trainers to acquire specific skills for integrating Pilates. Reformer and Cadillac in health, fitness and rehabilitation contexts, guaranteeing the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.

OBJECTIVES

  Describe, demonstrate and correctly execute the fundamental exercises on the Reformer and Cadillac, understanding their technical logic, breathing, alignment and control principles.
  Set up, adjust and safely use Reformer and Cadillac equipment, identifying mechanisms, springs, supports and essential variations for different practitioner profiles.
  Identify the biomechanical bases and specific objectives of each exercise, recognizing the impact on conditional capacities, postural alignment and overall functionality.
  Apply technical progression and regression criteria, adapting exercises to the level, objectives and limitations of the practitioners.
  Integrate Pilates equipment into preventive, therapeutic and performance exercise programs, articulating the practice with clinical, rehabilitation and movement optimization needs.
  Developing practical skills in individual and small group supervision, ensuring technical correctness, safety and efficiency during supervised practice.
