SPORTS NUTRITION COURSE

FROM THEORY TO COOKING | SPECIAL MODALITIES

The realm of Nutrition is a determining factor for sports performance.
Nutrition combined with training contributes to the maintenance of an adequate weight and body composition, to the prevention of diseases and/or injuries as well as to the improvement of performance. The technical-scientific network, which supports food planning developed to respond to the biological individuality and requirements of sports participation of different athletes, significantly impacts the function of metabolic pathways and regulatory mechanisms. Moreover, with more or less success in planning and implementing food and nutrition for athletes, thought in terms of the metabolic profile of organs and tissues, the ontogenetic stage of development, athletic characteristics and the load of training and competitions, among others, the athlete will be opted to relate. Nowadays, Sports competition is defined by the millisecond, by the cm, by the kg, by the point, by the goal, etc. We well know, as we go slower, weaker and/or stop, if the metabolism fails to enliven the body.

Food plans can and should also be adjusted to the circumstances of an athlete undergoing rehabilitation, contributing to the treatment of injuries. Although the benefits related to injury recovery are little known, it is proven that nutritional and energy adjustments have a positive impact on preventing changes in weight and body composition, depending on the change in the quality and quantity of the training load.

The amount of information on Sports Nutrition is vast. However, it is not always made available with due scientific rigor and seasoned with common sense for safe and effective food consumption.

THE 12TH EDITION OF THE SPORTS NUTRITION COURSE FROM THEORY TO COOKING – SPECIAL MODALITIES COMPRISES 3 INSEPARABLE, COMPLEMENTARY LEVELS THAT ARE INTENDED TO BE USEFUL AND EFFICIENT IN THEIR PURPOSES. THIS IS:

a. To begin with, with our first 8 classes, we develop advanced knowledge about the technical-scientific pillars that guarantee a safe, legal and capable professional exercise in the field of Sports Nutrition;
b. Secondly, we will have 5 classes to develop theoretical and practical specificities that result from biological, athletic and sporting characteristics of 5 particular modalities;
c. To conclude, we will materialize a practical workshop, presenting food solutions for an athlete’s microcycle – “Uma Semana d’Atleta”. It is intended to enable professionals and athletes to transpose the theoretical knowledge they acquire to their daily lives, particularly in the preparation of main and intermediate meals.

The purpose of the 3 integrated levels enunciated is to constitute a triad to govern and provide professionals with a set of tools based on good practices and scientific evidence, leveraging professionalism, knowledge and skills specific to Sports Nutrition.
